How is this possible? The CDC issued a moratorium for evictions that affects every landlord in the United States. With no forewarnings, on September 4, 2020, the CDC ordered a ban on evictions, which means that we no longer have the right to evict tenants who are behind in paying their rent.  The order by the CDC comes attached with penalties for landlords, who can be fined up to $100,000 and sent to jail for up to 1 year for evicting a tenant, OR BOTH.   However, if the CDC determines that the violation resulted in a death there are enhanced penalties.  The CDC determined that the fine could be up to $250,000 and 1 year in jail or both, OR as otherwise provided by law, which is NOT explained. Is there a way to prevent the landlords being put in this position? Yes, in fact, there are several options which may be of help and can prevent these drastic actions. Lease violations are legal means to evict based on the CDC order.  Do you have any ideas/questions? Share some feedback go to www.savvyradioshow.com and leave a voicemail.
